Crow Lake Ice Classic Jan 26-29 2017

Muskie Bay Resort presents the Crow Lake Ice Classic
January 26-29 2017.
Want a REAL Winter adventure? Come join us in Nestor Falls, Ontario Canada at Muskie Bay Resort. Fish the famous waters of Lake of the Woods, Crow Lake and surronding lakes for Lake Trout, Crappies, Perch, Pike and everything else this area has to offer. There are give aways and prizes. This American Plan trip leaves no one hungry and the local guide will be bringing us to all the hot spots. As a group we will decide what we want to dd, but the basic plan will be as follows: Show up on Thursday and fish or get your gear ready. Supper is provided on Thursday evening. Friday and Saturday we will get up and have a quick breakfast and hit the water early. Lake Trout will be the primary target early in the day on Crow Lake or its surronding lakes. Conditions will dictate how far we will be able to travel. We will come in for a hot lunch and then head over to Lake of the Woods for an afternoon of Crappie fishing. At dark we will come in and have a hot supper. Saturday we enjoy some of what we have caught and we will have fish for dinner. Sunday morning will fish and then head home. Things you need for this outting: Snow mobile, or 4 wheeler ( depending on ice conditions) snow mobile preferred. Portable ice house ( like a fish trap or similar); electronics ( flasher like a Vexilar or Hummingbird). Heat/ propane, ice scoop, warm clothes, with waterproof boots. Temperatures can get to less -40 F and then go to warmer weather and have slush conditions over night. Recommended fishing tackle: Lake Trout; Clam Outdoors Dave Genz Split Handle Rods in 40″ Heavy or 36″ Medium-Heavy or similar. Shimano 2000 to 3000 size spinning reel. P-line Floroice 10# ice rod case. #10 barrel swivels, 3/8 oz tube jigs and 3″ to 4″ tubes in white-ish or glow colors, blade baits, like Heddon Sonars and a pliers. Crappie/Perch: Bring your favorite ultra-light set up but also bring a lighter walleye combo as you can target the larger fish by upsizing to baits like Hali 25mm, #2 Jigging Rapalas smaller Northland Buck -Shot Rattle Spoons etc. Tipping baits with plastics like Little Atom or other small plastics works well.
The cost of the outting is 450.00 USD taxes are not includes. To book your trip contact Paul or Christine Trinkner at Muskie Bay Resort 1-877-228-2076 toll free. A 100.00 deposit per person is required.

It is already June 16 Muskie Opener is the 18th where did the summer go.

Well it has been a good two weeks for Clyde and the boys, thank you for the photos and sharing your great time.

The water temperatures today are 64 on Crow Lake and 67 on LOTW. Muskies are done spawing on Crow Lake we are finding them now on the points. Trout fishing is good jigging some at 70-75 feet using a Sebile Greenie vibrato. Catching some trolling over deep water with our in line weights 4 OZ getting our spoons down 30 feet. Walleye fishing are on the rocks, fishing has been really good, I am hearing 7-9 ft. Pike fishing has been great in the weeds double blade buzz baits (black).

Ice went out on May 2nd.

Summer 2016 has begun and we have been busy painting, washing all the linens, washing walls and painting.

In motel 4  log siding inside, new bathroom sink, new tub and flooring.  We did some much needed repairs to cabin 9 due to water damage. Working on cabin 4, new cabinets in the bathroom and new flooring in the kitchen.

We replaced some of the older boats flooring and purchased another new Crestliner 50 hp and trailer.

Opening up a few of cabins over the winter,so we are putting in a heated water line so that we can be ready for the cold weather. We have  a list of things to do, I hope we get them all done before  next weekend.

We are excited about the summer, this is the busiest we have ever been. We look forward to seeing everyone. Thank you.

See you soon

Christine, Paul, Jake, Ashley and the boys.

Ice Conditions Crow Lake 02/07/2016

It has been warm weather lately and has brought us a couple inches of snow over the last few nights. Crow Lake has about 6 inches now on it and up to 16 inches of solid ice all across. It is about the same on Whitefish Bay. Some areas of slush on Whitefish but all around good conditions. Crow Lake has been producing lake trout a little better than Whitefish from my prospective but usually picks up mid February early March. Crappies and walleyes are fantastic in town but you have to get off the beaten path.
