Border Crossing Information

HEAD FOR THE BORDER with these border crossing regulations in mind

As many of you already know, as of Aug. 9th, 2021, Americans who have been fully vaccinated can travel to Canada without having to quarantine. Travellers must complete the following steps:
Must be fully vaccinated by a vaccine accepted by the Government of Canada. Health Canada approved COVID-19 vaccines are Pfizer, Moderna, Astra Zeneca, Johnson & Johnson. You must have received your second dose at least 14 days prior to the day you enter Canada.
Must provide a digital copy of vaccination documentation in English or French.
Must upload information into the ArriveCAN app – this app is free and secure. (Be cautious of third party, fraudulent webpages and apps that may be posing as ArriveCAN and asking you for payment. ArriveCAN is free and secure and is the official Government of Canada platform to provide your information when entering Canada). Here is the link to the app It can also be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.
All information must be inputted into the ArriveCAN app within 72 hours prior to arrival in Canada. The app will ask you to input contact information for you and the people you are travelling with, purpose of trip, date of arrival, port of entry, proof of vaccination, and your quarantine plan. For the quarantine plan, input the location where you will be staying while in Canada  Is Hwy 71 Nestor Falls, ON  P0X1K0
I have heard rumors of folks being concerned about returning to the U.S. after their trip to Canada, so I called the U.S. Customs office in International Falls. The officer stated that they cannot deny U.S. citizens re-entry into their own country so that should not ben an issue. If anyone has questions and wants to talk with a customs officer, the International Falls number is (218) 283-2541 and the Baudette number is (218) 634-2803.
I am sure there will still be more clarifications as we go forward but this is basically the gist of the information. It is confusing if you look online as it appears that some information has been updated and some not so, please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions and we will try and find out the correct answers for you.

Canada is so close and accessible, it’s easy to forget it’s a foreign country. And, being a foreign country, it has its share of border crossing regulations. Not to worry-crossing the border is a smooth procedure if you’re able to follow directions. Scan this page before you head North, and contact Canada Customs, 1-800-461-9999, if you need more information.
