We are named after the fish for a reason. Crow Lake and the connected water of Lake of the Woods hold a serious muskie population, and our guides have spent decades learning where they sit through the season.
Clear-Water Muskie
Crow Lake runs clear, which means sight-fishing opportunities and follows you actually watch happen. It is a different experience from stained-water muskie fishing.
Season Opens Mid June
Muskie season in Zone 5 opens the third Saturday of June and runs to December 15. Late summer through fall is prime for the biggest fish.
Multi-Species Days
Muskie in the morning, walleye for shore lunch, smallmouth in the afternoon. Your guide moves with the conditions.
Traditional Shore Lunch
Fresh walleye cooked on the rocks at midday. It is the part guests describe first when they get home.

When to come, by species.
Ontario Zone 5 seasons, so you can plan around what you most want to catch. Confirm current regulations with the Ontario Ministry before you travel.
Because northern pike and smallmouth bass are open year round in Zone 5, there is no bad week to fish here. June brings the walleye and muskie openers, midsummer is peak multi-species, and September and October are the months serious muskie anglers ask for. What does the premier guided fishing package include?
Everything. A professional guide in the boat, lakeview lodging, all meals including a traditional shore lunch on the water, and all rods, reels, bait and tackle. Rates are $467 USD per person per day with three guests in a deluxe guide boat, or $592 USD per person per day with two guests. Full pricing is on our rates page.
How many people fish per guide boat?
Two or three anglers per guide boat. Three keeps the per-person rate lower, two gives you more room and more casting space. Larger groups run multiple boats and guides.
What species will we target?
Muskie, walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, lake trout and crappie, depending on the season and what you want. Most guided days end up multi-species because your guide moves to whatever is working.
Do I need to bring any fishing gear?
No. Rods, reels, bait and tackle are all included on the premier guided package. Bring a rain jacket, polarized sunglasses, sunscreen and a camera. Many guests still bring a favourite rod, which is fine.
What is a shore lunch?
A Canadian tradition and one of the best parts of a guided day. Your guide pulls onto a rock point at midday and cooks the morning's walleye fresh over a fire with potatoes and beans. It is included on guided days.
Is this a good trip for a first-timer?
It is the best option for a first trip to this country. You are not guessing at unfamiliar water, and you learn a huge amount in a few days. Groups often book guided the first year, then move to semi-guided fishing once they know the lakes.
